About SD-Forward
The current political parties have let us all down. Filled with ideology not shared by ordinary people they have presided over a steady decline in many people’s lives going back as much as 50 years or more while pretending things have improved. It is clear they are out of touch.
New parties can be the answer to that, but to achieve their purpose they need to be effective and stay true to their core principles and the public. This site is an attempt to enable free and independent debate around Social Democracy, and how a party seeking to be Social Democratic could be made to work better, reach more people with its moderate message, and keep itself on track despite a world of increasingly extremist polemic, where ordinary people feel left out and alienated.
Social Democracy Forward is not a political party, but its aim must be either to form one or to reform an existing one in order to fill this glaring gap in British democracy. However, that depends on sufficient support for such a move. The founding members of a party, as well as sharing appropriate aspirations for society, need to hold a sufficient skill set to comply with electoral law including financial reporting obligations. They also need to administer a growing organisation and keep everything running smoothly, so having the right people is vital.
Contributions from members and non-members of parties are equally welcome and all will be read and considered for publication at the editor’s discretion.
There are three main sections: Organisation, Policy, and Letters. Organisation is about how a party might be structured so as to fulfil its purpose best. Policy is a discussion of how policy should be developed and presented to achieve that purpose. The Letters page is for people to comment on anything they and the editor would consider relevant or helpful.
(The editor is a former member of the Social Democratic Party who left after discovering all was not as it appeared. His reasons can be read here.)
